SGI Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Hot, cool, yours!
IQDEMY international sales managers made a working visit to Dubai and SGI Dubai expo, where they reached several important agreements with Middle East printing and advertising market’s representatives.
The market (and the way it works) largely determines this region's mentality and sociocultural background. IQDEMY sales managers witnessed that first-hand when they paid a working visit to Dubai—UAE’s fundamental trading center—and SGI Dubai 2017, which was conducted from 15 to 17 January in Dubai World Trade Centre.
SGI Dubai is a relatively «compact» B2B exhibition. It is focused on manufacturers which produce equipment and materials for indoor/outdoor advertising and POSM. Printing equipment sector was represented by nearly a dozen companies, including both major players of Middle East market and smaller enterprises.
Signtrade is a large UAE company, which provides consumables and equipment for indoor and outdoor advertising since 1988. Today, they have 15 branches operating in the Gulf States and Pakistan, supplying controlling electronics, digital solutions, printing equipment and textile machinery made by Mimaki, SwissQprint, AGFA and HP. From all the equipment represented, most eye-catching thing was a rhinestone transfer machine; in general, their booth space accounted for about 15% of the whole exhibition, marking it evident that it is a leader in the region.
SwissQPrint presented Rob—flatbed printer with robotic material feed. Although Rob is not a new thing, it still looks spectacular. However, this is hardly a practical solution, being extremely particular about printing material's size and shape.
Colorjet is an Indian printer manufacturer, which produces textile, eco-solvent, and inkjet printing machines for high quality indoor and outdoor advertising.
Fortune7 Advertising Solutions LLC provides large-format printing equipment and consumables for outdoor advertising. This is an UAE company, also operating in Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. At SGI Dubai, Fortune7 presented the first hybrid printer made in UAE.
Solvent printers were printing equipment’s prevailing type at the exhibition. It is notable that in the local market, such major world brands as Mimaki, HP and AGFA have one representative each, which lets all distributors coexist effectively. The only exception is Chinese brands, which follow their own strategy of expansion.
At SGI Dubai, IQDEMY managers presented a new technology, well-proven by the company's specialists: anodized aluminum printing. Due to a special technology of surface processing, UV-print is literally “imprinted” in material’s open pores. This technology goes hand in hand with the company’s brand new machine – IQDEMY ALUPRINT 1228/2030.
ALUPRINT 1228/2030 is a large format printing machine with 2x3m printing width and 100-250 sq.m/h efficiency. It is equipped with DPS Innovations electronic and Ricoh Gen5 printheads.
This promising new machine and printing samples generated genuine interest among both exhibitors and guests. Its commercial potential was highly evaluated since printing on metallic surfaces is quite a popular request in modern B2B sector.
Today, it is widely used in oriental-style interior design, where such traditional decorative element as hammered effect recently found new acceptance. Another field of application is exterior decorating of modern industrial buildings with plenty of metal-coat and mirror surfaces.
During the visit, IQDEMY managers met with senior officials of Avenir General Trading, who became the company’s Middle East dealer in 2016. Main topics of this important meeting were details and prospects of future cooperation.
